Competitors and pages

Add competitors, choose which of their pages to watch, and control how often each one is checked.

Everything Peersheep monitors lives in the Watchlist. Each competitor has a list of pages under it, and each page is crawled on its own schedule.

Add a competitor

  1. Open Watchlist and click Add competitor.
  2. Enter the company name and domain.
  3. Pick from the suggested pages under Pages to monitor.

Peersheep suggests the pages that exist on the site from a standard set: pricing, features, changelog, blog, careers, docs and the homepage. See the Quickstart for the exact paths it checks.

Add a single page

To watch a page that wasn't suggested, such as a comparison page or a specific product page, click Add URL on the competitor and fill in:

  • URL: the full address, for example https://acme.ai/enterprise.
  • Page type: what kind of page it is (see below).
  • Crawl frequency: Hourly or Daily.

Page types

The page type tells Peersheep what it's reading, which affects how changes are scored. A new number on a pricing page means something very different from a new number in a blog post.

Crawl frequency

  • Hourly suits pages where timing matters, like pricing and changelogs.
  • Daily is enough for slower pages, like careers and blog indexes.

You can change a page's frequency at any time.

Managing pages

Each page in the Watchlist has these controls:

  • Crawl now: check the page immediately instead of waiting for the next scheduled crawl.
  • View stored snapshot: see the last version Peersheep captured.
  • Pause / Resume: stop checking a page without losing its history. Paused pages are marked paused.
  • Remove (the trash icon): stop watching the page.

To stop watching a competitor entirely, use the trash icon next to its name.

Limits

The number of competitors and monitored pages depends on your plan. See Plans and limits.
